Joey Marino

Joey Marino joined the Eyewitness News team in December of 2018 as the Weekend Meteorologist/Photojournalist before moving to Morning Meteorologist.

Joey comes to us from the small town of Effort, PA. When he was just 7 years old, he began watching Storm Stories and his idol Meteorologist Jim Cantore on the Weather Channel and was instantly hooked to weather. Then on his birthday in 2009, an EF-2 tornado touched down about 15 minutes from his house in the Poconos. He says to this day that “that was mother nature telling me that meteorology was going to be my life!”.

He received his Bachelors of Science degree in meteorology from Millersville University in December of 2018. While at Millersville, Joey participated in Campus Weather Service as both a Lead forecaster & Streaming Video Forecaster. In 2016, he interned at WGAL with the News 8 Storm Team.

In addition, he and a few collogues formed a storm chase team called Echo Top Storm Chasers. During the Spring of 2016, he and the team took a trip out to tornado alley to experience severe weather at its most intense. All together, they experienced 17 tornadoes including the massive EF-4 Chapman, KS wedge tornado. Whenever mother nature presents a storm chase opportunity, Joey packs his gear and hits the road!

When Joey is not in the weather center, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and just generally being in the great outdoors. He especially enjoys going on long adventures with his fiancé Gina and their puppy “child” Kasey. He also is a big fan of the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
