Scott is originally from Ohio, but he has called Rockford home since he was hired by WTVO in 1989. He was promoted to Sports Director in 1995.
Scott anchors the WTVO (ABC) sports on the nightly news at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. He also anchors the WQRF Fox 39 sports at 9:00 p.m.
Some of the events Scott has attended and covered include the World Series, the Super Bowl, the Indy 500, the NBA playoffs, the NBA All-Star Game, NASCAR’s Brickyard 400, the Stanley Cup Finals, the Orange Bowl, the Masters, and the U.S. Open Golf Tournament.
Scott has hosted a weekly TV show on the Chicago Bears called Bear Blitz. Scott has also done sideline reporting for the IHSA Television Network on State Championship football games broadcast throughout Illinois. He has also done play-by-play of Girls State Tournament basketball games on the IHSA TV Network.
Scott has also done play-by-play of Northern Illinois University basketball and Rock River Raptors indoor football, and he has worked as the studio host of the Hockey Night in Rockford telecasts of the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs games.
Scott has won multiple Silver Dome Awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association for his sports coverage. In August of 2022, he received the American Hockey League’s James H. Ellery Memorial Award which is presented in recognition of outstanding media coverage of the AHL. The award is presented to one media member throughout the entire 32 team league which includes major cities throughout the United States and parts of Canada.
In 2021, Scott was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame for his coverage of high school basketball.
